Magical maternity shoot at sunrise!

This maternity session gives me all the feels! We chose a scenic water location at sunrise and it did NOT disappoint. Maigan and Kyle were such troopers for waking up so early to beat the heat. Although we still had a little hiccup in the middle, Maigan had a little fainting moment. Luckily, her husband and the lake water helped her fall. That was the first time I’ve ever had anyone pass out at a shoot. I was so glad mama and baby were okay! (I just took their newborn photos not to long ago). It was still a little toasty outside so we made sure to take more water breaks and rest more often. The photos turned out very beautiful. The sky at sunrise had amazing and vibrant colors (one of the many pros of shooting that early).

Here are some maternity photo shoot tips! I usually recommend doing maternity photos around 30 weeks for first-time moms. Sometimes it takes longer for first-time pregnant bellies to show more. A lot of times, second pregnancies show faster than 30 weeks so we can typically schedule a little earlier. But generally speaking, 30 weeks is a great time in pregnancy. It is before mamas get into the super uncomfortable phase and before that water weight and swelling usually happen. This is why I think 30 weeks is the perfect time for a maternity shoot!
